Constitutional amendments important – Church

Mansa, September 18, ZANIS ….. The Church in Mansa has stressed the need to amend the Republican constitution.

Mansa District Pastors fellowship Acting Chairperson Bishop Maxwell Mumba says the church in Mansa has been following with interest since 2016 the constitutional debate and that it is important that the constitution is amended.

Bishop Mumba says The church in the district fully supports government’s intention to refine the constitution by involving necessary systems and structures that will meet the aspirations of the people.

ZANIS reports that speaking at a media briefing at Henry courtyard this morning, Bishop Mumba however, says there is need to to maintain the amendment act number 116 Clause four where ministers should vacate office at dissolution of Parliament saying that will level the playing field and curb misuse of public resources.

On the reintroduction of deputy ministers Bishop Mumba says the church in the district feels it is not important to have deputy minister as no credible accessement has been done to show their relevance.

On pension, Bishop Mumba says there need to maintain amendment act number two of 2016 in the Zambian constitution and also include that their pension be paid on the last working day saying this help not to subject senior citizens to suffering after retirement.

Bishop Mumba has since pledged to work and support the government of the day by providing spiritual guidance to national leaders on matters of national interest.
